World-renowned practitioners bring their specialties to new clinic at Avenue and St.Clair

Toronto – Gwynneth Paltrow swears by it, Madonna goes regularly, as do Richard Gere, Cate Blanchett and Diane Lane. All of these celebrities swear by the treatments Traditional Chinese Medicine has to offer, and now Forest Hill residents can try it for themselves, right in the their own neighborhood, at the new Total Wellness Centre.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been successfully treating patients for 5000 years and includes practices such as acupuncture and herbal formulas to treat not just the symptoms that people suffer, but the root causes of those symptoms. As an example, TCM treatment doesn’t just make migraine pain go away, it treats the reason the migraines are happening in the first place to make them stop for good.

Men and women of all ages come to the Total Wellness Centre for a variety of concerns such as male and female fertility issues, hormone treatment, sports injuries and skin conditions. The care they get combines the best of East and West.

“ Our clinic is one of the only clinics in Toronto to maintain a referral relationship with western doctors, particularly infertility doctors,” says Angela Fu, Clinic Director. “Our practitioners understand that patients experience the best results by combining eastern style treatments with western diagnosis. We don't believe in treating with Chinese medicine to the exclusion of other beneficial modalities. We keep an open mind, and this allows us to achieve the highest possible benefit for our patients.”

Another important element that sets the Total Wellness Centre apart is the quality of its practitioners. “Our practitioners have all received their training in Asian universities and practical experience in Asian hospitals as well as in Canadian hospitals and clinics,” says Fu. “The depth of their experience cannot be matched. Those few practitioners that may have equal experience and education often have a severe language barrier. Our practitioners speak English and have access to a on-site translator at all times to ensure that patients and doctors always understand each other.”
